Location Sound

The capturing and storing of clean, consistent and intelligible audio on location. A basic element to invest into but sadly the one that gets neglected the most. Shoddy location sound, recorded via an onboard camera mic whilst assuming that it can be ‘fixed’ in post, is a sure fire way to make your production stand out as amateur. The challenge for any sound recordist is to minimise background noise and overcome sonic characteristics to ensure your shot requirements are met. Being prepared to invest it this type of support within your production team will save you time and money in post-production.

Post Production

Ultimately this will bring together the elements of your location sound, any effects, foley and music. Here your audio elements will be synced and sweetened ready for your final mix and delivery. In some cases it can be a simple case of smoothing out the audio and blending everything together or in some cases, more in depth processing and repair can take place. A good example of this is dialogue recorded in a 'bad for sound' location which needs some de-noising to make it usable in your production.
